    Dracula Raven

Acquired from Equagenera in January 2024. This is the first time blooming this genus for me. Very cool, seems to get along very well growing in the exact same culture as my phrags.. just suspended a bit off the ground. I am growing this in a net basket with only live sphagnum moss.

Phrag. dalessandroi (Acker's Flamenco Dancer x Acker's Fire Tower)

Picked up at the 2024 Paph forum. Seems to be establishing nicely in the 1 gallon net pot of grodan chunks. It reminds me of a clown 🤡 nose with that dark staminode.

    Trisetella

Picked up these two as a pre order from Ecuagenera at the paph forum in Jan, 2024. I wasn’t expecting them to adapt and bloom so quickly. I have been branching out to smaller species that grow in similar conditions as my phrags. I’ve had some luck and a lot of fun with a group of restrepia I...

    Phrag. Jason Fischer ‘Cub Hill’

Z2816: (besseae ‘Orange Crush’ x Mem. Dick Clements) This plant was acquired from The Little Greenhouse in October of 2023. It had been a number of years since they bloomed her out. Tom from TLG informed me that this came from the same flask that Hadley (Marriott Orchids) was awarded an FCC on...

    Cattleya maxima alba (lowland var.)

This plant was acquired as a bare root division from Carter and Holmes in June of 2022. It’s growing in a predominantly large kiwi bark mix with a bit of grodan chunks, charcoal, and chunky perlite. It sits in a plastic net pot nested in a larger 6 inch aircone pot. After putting out a new...

    Phrag. besseae (from Peru)🇵🇪

This plant was picked up at the 2023 paph forum from @FrankRC. Unfortunately, I couldn’t get it to open before the 2024 paph forum.. missed by a few days. I’m fond of its color and form. It also has a small footprint so far, will be interesting to see how this one grows compared to the other...

Wanted In search of Red phrags

Hi All, I live in the US and I am in search of a few red phrag hybrids to add to the collection. I’m looking specifically for flasks or unbloomed seedlings from quality parents, divisions with deeper red color and decent shape. Open to purchases and or trades. Please drop me a private message...

Phrag. Fritz Schomburg (besseae 'OZ Selected' x kovachii 'Full Moon’)

Picked up from The Orchid Inn, a year ago in January 2023. I’m not super excited about the jagged edges on the bottom of the petals.. I moved my last Fritz on because I couldn’t get away from that. It’s also not the biggest. But I do like the darker color, happy in some ways to get away from the...

    Cattleya intermedia 'Cub Hill’

Picked up from the Little Greenhouse in Maryland this past summer, really needs a repot, very happy she decided to bloom. What a delicate satin flower. 3 in bloom and 1 bud in progress.

    Vanda insignis (2031)(f2)

Vanda insignis (2031)(f2). From Motes Orchids, acquired in November of 2021. First bloom for me, the flowers carry a very pleasant rose fragrance. Enjoy.

    Vanda Motes Hot Mama

(1943 V. Foxy Lady x V. merrilli var, rotori) First bloom seedling from Motes Orchids, November 2021. Unfortunately, I did something to cause the last 3 buds to blast. :/ I think I let it dry out too much or maybe it didn’t like the fert change. It’s a tricky time of the year with the cooling...

    Habenaria medusa ‘Owen’

Picked up in April 2023 with only the tiniest green nub peeking out of the soil. It grew into a monster and I’m looking forward to it going dormant so I can harvest the corms. They look like hot dog potatoes about the size of your hand. Very excited to see this one bloom, it has been on the list...

    Cattleya White Reception ‘NN’

Cattleya Hawaiian Wedding Song × Cattleya Douglas Johnston I picked this up off of Ebay in September of 2021. First bloom for me, I thought it was fragrant but I’m not detecting anything this evening, I’ll try again in the daytime. The buds were fast to open and I missed my opportunity to give...

    Anguloa clowesii

Purchased from Ecuagenera in June of 2022. This was a big experiment for me, after seeing another member in a local society bring in a blooming plant a few years back it went on the list. I just had to have a tulip orchid. Was relatively easy to grow in my conditions, I kept it on the floor to...

Help ID this discoloration of the cattleya leaves

Hi all. Was hoping some of the advanced growers can chime in. I returned from vacation (5 days) to find a few cattleya leaves of different plants showing large brown/ purple patches in the leaves, random solid patterns covering mid section of the leaf to the full leaf, but not near the base...

    Old orchid books

I’m currently on vacation in Maine visiting my in-laws. My mother in laws friend was raised in Brazil and her parents grew orchids. She gave me these two books as they were not being used. The first/larger one is in Portuguese (1959) and a bit rough condition, the second is in English and...

RIc. Memoria LaVerne O. Meier 'Harford' HCC

Inherited to grow on from the little greenhouse last week in bud. I wanted to share and record this plant in bloom before I move ahead with repotting. Might be a few years before I see it again. Registered in 2002. The parents are Rhyncholaeliocattleya Sunset Gorge × Cattleya Tango. This is a...

Cattleya purpurata var. carnea ‘Harford’ AM/AOS

This is a bit of a sad post for me. This plant was a gift last summer from my dear friend Gary Krause, one of the owners of The Little Greenhouse in Baltimore MD. Gary and I were generations apart but shared the same birthday, and something clicked between us. We chatted nearly every day by...

    Cattleya José Martí 'Mother's Favorite'

Cattleya Bob Betts × Cattleya Bow Bells Acquired at an NCOS auction by a friend. I was gifted a division in 2016. This was repotted in March of 2022 in a net pot with grodan and #4 perlite. I’ve moved away from this mix for cattleyas and have returned to a kiwi bark base with less grodan. But...

Cattleya trianae alba 'BK × Cattleya trianae alba 'Grezaffi’

This seedling was purchased from Carter and Holmes in the fall of 2017, and this is its first bloom. Not the biggest fan of the form and I plan to move it out of the collection. Before I do, I wanted a record of the blooms since I put the 5 years in ;) This is the first trianae I have ever bloomed.
