I hoped a good color with this cross. I have a good color! :D
It's at this time the rothschildianum of my collection with the darkest dorsal.

First bloom. It's a small flower of 23cms and the petals are not completely flat.
But 4 flowers for a 1st time with good presentation. (next photos with the 4 flowers)

The colour is incredible. I do much prefer these dark roths. I'd be willing to overlook those tiny faults for a colour as good as that.

Perhaps the petals will straighten a bit as the flowers mature? Either way it is a small minor fault on an incredible set of flowers. The dorsal colour is magical, streaks of blackcurrant jelly on vanilla icecream! (or a bit like my shirt front after a night of cigars and port)

It goes without saying that it has great color. It is rare to see a roth so dark. It has alot of potential for future breeding. I can't wait for the coming years to see alot of dark roth seedling coming to bloom.
