No sun for good photos today but here it is while the first flower is still fresh!
Paphiopedilum Wössner Black Wings (rothschildianum x anitum ‘Ace’ AM/AOS)
blooming for the first time and it is quite nice. 😍
The plant is over 3ft tall and wider than my arm!! The dorsal width at 6.2 cm & petal length at 18cm.
There is a new growth big enough to bloom again next year.
A fellow slipper enthusiast (Thank you, Mike!!) gifted me a small seedling a few years ago and it has turned out better than expected.
I think I can let go of my sick Hsinying Anita now.

Will update with more photos when the sun returns.

Tony, the petals are more straight down now 😁

Nice flower and very well grown plant. I've flowered just 2 from that flask so far. They were both nice, but I think your dorsal is more interesting. Mike

The scent has very mild sweet undertone which I really like.
It reminds me of those large white Beallara hybrids (Tahoma Glacier etc) I used to have a bunch of many years ago. They all had this same mild blackpepper smell with sweet undertone.

Possibly rothschildianum 'Red Sea' x anitum 'Ace' AM/AOS
Anitum parent is correct for sure since he made two crosses of this using pollen from the same anitum.
Only the roth parents were different.
