I am super excited to have this flower! :)

This is its third bloom, and the best one yet with all its faults.
Last time, the dorsal was terribly malformed. This time, there is only a slight tear.

The overall fullness of the flower and the size are the biggest improvement over the last bloom.
Last one was still large at 15cm across. This one, even with the crazy wavy petals, it is 18cm (if I spread open the wavy petals, it is 20cm)!! it might still be growing because it was 16 two days ago.

The petals were perfectly horizontally stretched out last year, but narrower.
This time, they are much fuller but unruly as seen here.

The pouch was perfect last time, and it is terribly dented all over this time.

Last year, the spike was very tall, this time, it is more like hangianum.
I like it shorter.

I angled the shot so it shows its best. :D

The fragrance is the same as last time. Very pleasant day and night! :)

The good thing is that it is a good grower too. It has a new fan going already.

I'm already curious how the fourth bloom will turn out.

This is the best angle. The other side of the pouch is basically completely dented in. lol

Friday, what time are you going to be home?
Leucochilum is scheduled to be water tomorrow, but I'll bring it dry so you can enjoy watering it all over. :D

Nice, BIG flower. Plant looks good too.

Yeah, I love the leaves on hangianum x parvi hybrids.
This plant looks pretty much like malipoense.
Each leaf is about 6-8 inch long. Not small, but not terribly big for me, either.

My other Shun-Fa Golden has blasted its bud, but there is a new fan developing nicely. Hopefully next year. :)

Just texted you.

I have workers coming in tomorrow, but they haven't yet notify me about the time.
I'd rather do during the day time, but will keep you posted so you can let your gf know also.

I'm thinking of crossing this with Armeni White or Lynleigh Koopowtiz that's about to open.
It will give something like big In-Charm Handel hopefully? :)

All these plants are good growers &bloomers, especially my Armeni White.

None of my In-Charm Handel will bloom for years now! I got some seedlings out of frustration, but maybe my own breeding might bloom sooner than these, who knows? haha

OMG! Really? Only if I had a nice rothschildianum plant in bloom!
I'll take it anyway in case my WCM makes it to flower in the spring. :)
Or should I bring my mini multi's pollen and put that on your DG? :)
This is fun! haha

By the way, I just removed the pouch on Shun-Fa Golden and the pouch is where the fragrance is made I think.
The pouch itself was very fragrant and now the flower is not. hmmm

Better make some good offspring. Fingers crossed.

It might be that the fragrance is concentrated inside the pouch since it is sort of closed with only the top is open?

I smell much less fragrance on the flower now.
It still is beautiful to my eyes! Love the markings and all. :)

The removed pouch. Half an hour later, it is still fragrant.
The flower is fragrant, again, also. Phew~~

The spots inside for Angela. :)

The hairs are placed in a direction to guide the bugs outward. How clever!

Where'd you get this from?

I picked this one up in bloom last summer at Piping Rock Orchids.
He only had one and only I think. At least I could not find any more and I checked every little corner of his greenhouse looking for goodies. ha~

He was hesitant to give it up, but I made him. He knew it had a potential, and I just wanted it for fragrance. :D
