Importing flasks into Australia

I was just looking up import requirements for some Paphiopedilum flasks coming into Australia via hand luggage on an aircraft. I thought people might find this document interesting as it takes some digging to find it. It’s also interesting for people in the US in particular where you can see how the very strict interpretation of CITES is not applied in other countries.

Each country applies import/export rules as it sees fit. If you're importing 6 or less flasks the important factors are identity and sterility of materials. Good luck.

In my experience the customs officers have no idea what they are looking at. I take a copy of the 'rules' to show them and the people 'on the floor' often dont know them.
