Here is my godefroyae.The problem of the most similar plants are the same...rim of the petals are thickened and are growing slower than the center, that is why petals begin to have a cup like shape and become to be unable to be flat.

Maybe as the plant matures and increases in size, things will improve?

I found with Brachypetalum that I needed at least a 3 growth plant before I would see their full potential.

The very heavily coloured varieties are often cupped, in my experience (or heavily manipulated to flatten them out).

That used to be the case with harlequin phals, as well. I wonder if those are linked somehow. Phal breeders managed to get rid of most of the shape problems, maybe it is just a several generation project.
