This is paph rothschildianum 'Fergus'. (a cross of 'Commander' x self) Judging from the growth it is showing, next year's blooming will be multi spiked and fabulous. I really like this clone. A bit smaller than the big awarded ones (this one has a NS of 25cm) but a nice full, well coloured flower. Two more buds to open yet.

Thank you!

I've had this plant since 2006. I got it as a young three growth plant. When I repotted it one of the fans came off and I shared it with John M. Hopefully he will be posting his in a year or so....I know he almost lost it in the freeze last year and it was set back a couple years. This is the second blooming on my plant for me. It is VERY vigorous at it bloomed last year and then put out 4-5 growths; one is blooming now and the rest should bloom next year. My other roth bloomed last in 2006 and I got it as a NBS seedling in 04.

Yes they are both grown exclusively indoors under HID lights.

Thank you everyone. It is a VERY vigorous grower...started with two growths in 06, bloomed first time in 08, and it now has five good sized, healthy growths. I'm hoping that it gives me multiple spikes next year. It is a pretty compact grower as well...still in a 5" pot. If the mix didn't need changing I could even get another years growth in the same pot!

I may take it for judging in two weeks but it most likely won't get anything as it is not as big as the ones being awarded these days.
