And another slipper opened: Paphiopedilum moquetteanum (that was fun to type). Highlights for me are: super tall spike; big bloom (4.5in x 3in; 11.5cm x 7.5cm; W x H); egg like pouch; red outlined leaves; and twisty hairy petals.

Big and lovely flower on a strong plant. Well done. 👍

.....Paphiopedilum Moquetteanum (that was fun to type).......
Sorry, I don't like to correct an university professor (Lol), but it's Paphiopedilum moquettianum, a true and accepted species. With a capital letter M it would be a hybrid.

In spite of my university faculty position, I love and live to learn!!!

I can only, yet again, second my Bavarian counterpart... once again turning this site into one of these internet bubble, echo chambers, that are so much talked about these days! 🕵️‍♂️

I'll be sure and post some controversial topics (ugly plants) to keep things lively ;).....

Love it. I hope mine will flower some day.
Don

Hope so too Don. I was looking at my other one, an it looks like it blasted in low bud. I was not aware it was thinking of blooming!!!!
