This seems to be my day for plants with questions about parentage and names.

Paph Ethel was registered as (Paph chamberlainianum X Paph stonei) in 1904.

In doing my normal background reading on new plants, I found much discussion about which name is correct, chamberlainianum vs victoria-regina. My tags read chamberlainianum x stonei.

I received this plant on my visit this weekend to Orchid Trails, Morrisville, NC. which is owned by John Stanton. John and his partner Paul Feavers do a lot to support the various orchid societies in the area. Paul and I were hunting through the greenhouses and he picked this from one of his personal benches and gave it to me. From tags, looks like this plant was from a flask/compot in 1997, and first flowered in 2001 - OK.

The plant has two blooming growths and a new growth in a 4" square pot. The largest growth is carrying 2 flowers. The flower ns is 5-1/2 inches. The next growth is also in spike.

Will repot after flowers fade to hopefully boost some new growth and vigor.

Charlie
