My twist to the appletonianum complex. Very green base color this clone. It had problems during flower development so the pouch is dented up. The tag has it labeled as amabile 20210306_044409.jpg20210306_044207.jpg20210306_043748.jpg20210306_043801.jpg

The leaves are of interest, not like the appletonianums of the past i remember. I have two plants and they both are similar.

Very nice! Whatever it is, i like it, especially the leaves are really beautiful! If you would call it cerveranum, some will also agree i think...

I don't know Ray. I can only go with the tag from Quintal Farms. Paph amabile.
Many years ago, I had plants called linii, the leaves were similar to these two plants. Who knows, it complex.

Looking in Orchid Wiz, I see there was a Paph Amabile registered in 1890 that was hookerae x Sementa (javanicum x superbiens). The downward curve of the petals is vaguely reminiscent of superbiens, but it does look more like an appletonianum cross.

Yes the leaves are very different but this is no hybrid intentionally made. There's no money in making appletonianum hybrids! Especially Quintal Farms would not put forth the effort. What they have is an unusual variety of the appletonianum complex and have self it. I originally bought 4 and all the leaves looked like these two. Two were sold to Galveston orchid members so status unknown. My second plant has not bloomed but I'm betting my bottom dollar it will be very similar to this one.

Rick, if I had space like you I would grow this plants only because of their foliage. These marking on the leaves are extraordinary. 👌
Furthermore I don't think it could be a hybrid.

They grow like weeds as do most appletonianum related plants do. You would have a pot full in no time of these attractive leaves. 16152459563698550352132143790643.jpg

Werner, that's an very intense colouration for an P. appletonianum........but be honest, you followed my instruction and increased the saturation of the photo. Lol
