A cross between a carnea and another color form, this was my first purpurata, acquired about 15 years ago from a fellow member of our orchid society. He brought it in bloom to a meeting and, when asked about divisions, promptly sold me the plant as he had other divisions back in his GH. I split the plant with a friend (it was a bit expensive at the time being a large plant) and it has bloomed for me almost every year since and is to blame for my having acquired numerous others in this group over the ensuing years. It is the last to bloom of this year's purpuratas for me. It still takes my breath away.

OH that lip is HOT! HOT! HOT! Never have much luck with this species. Probably didn't work hard enough at it.
