Den spectabile var aureum x self

This is second time I flower this plant. It is stronger now and flowers better this time. I watered this plant more often because it is potted in open mix - stone, gravel, etc. I don't think the flowers are attractive, but they are unique looking. Fragrance is strong and pleasing.

I got this from H&R. I think it is one of the compact Dendorbium type.

These blooms are absolutely scary looking, but the fragrance is nice. I have
never been able to bloom one, although one or two grew well for me. You
did gooooood.

Thank you Angela. I make an effort to water this plant meow often this past year. It doesn't seem to have a resting period. I like the fact that new inflorescence grows from the same pseudobulb since the potting mix doesn't break down so I can probably repot into a larger container by adding rocks. Right now it's in a four inch pot. Plant is under 20 inches in height.

I prefer the normal variant of the spectabile (as normal as this Dend can ever get, that is), but this one is cool, too. :D I love most of the latouria Dends, they're so alien looking!
