My plant is blooming it’s little heart out at my friend’s GH (David B.) with 6 flowers on two inflorescences (3 each).

Beautiful white lip (that unfortunately has red striations that technically rules it not concolor lol) and soft cotton candy pink. Slight orangey fragrance. NS 14 cm.

One little anthocyanin gene in the hypochile and eipchile misbehaving to spoil the concolor. Leslie, if this is a division, was the concolor designation wrong from the start? Do you relabel the plant? I know it keeps the cultivar and award. If it had been recognized as not concolor at judging would it still have been an AM?

It was awarded as concolor. At the time, the definition of concolor was not in questioned because the thought was that the lip was white compared to the rest of the flower. Even today, similar coloration is still considered by many experts as concolor.

True officianodos and botanists will only accept the true definition of no red anthocyanins in the lip.
