This appletonianum complex really can be confusing.
The one on right is very typical appletonianum shape but leaves have no mottling (rare).
The one on the left with mottled leaves look more like bullenianum to me (resembles the one I just got awarded).

Leslie, I agree its a confusing complex , like some others.
the one on the right : Got a few years ago, all with the same kind of leaves, flower color more on the pale side,
the one on the left : Got a few recently , could be bullenianum , all mottled leaves , stronger colors
