    Catt. walkeriana v. coerulea

I have a thing for blue Catts and think these cuties are just plain adorable. They smell just as sweet as they look. Susan

    Phal. cornu-cervi v. chattaladae

Still a small plant blooming for the first time. What I have found most interesting has been watching the color develop in the buds. The color starts out as spots and stripes that come together to form the solid red. Susan

    Paph. delenatii v. vinicolor

First bloom. I got this cutie as a baby from Ernie about 2 years ago. I think I detected slight fragrance this morning. Susan

    Oregon Orchid Society Show 2011

Somewhat on a whim I decided to get out of the house and take a road trip down to Portland and see the OOS show. It was good to see a couple STers there. I saw Pete (neo-guy) and Theresa (orchidmaven). Here are some of the lovely plants from Theresa's display (Hillsview Gardens) Nice Paph...

    Angraecum leonis

Love this one because the plant is fairly small and the fragrance is amazing. One or two flowers start filling up my house with fragrance within 5 minutes of the lights going off. Susan

    Phal. javanica

Love these. Has a lovely lily-like fragrance. Susan

    Paph. venustum

I picked this one up from Seattle Orchid in bud. It was the one that seemed to have the darkest color and the widest petals of the bunch they had in bud. Susan

Old TV Show-Smuggling Drugs and Orchids

The other day I was feeling nostalgic and started watching some old TV shows and stumbled across this old episode of MacGyver where the story line involves smuggling rare orchids along with heroin. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F6F8Z_e9eYE&feature=related At around 19 minutes in you will...

This one has been blooming well this year, but now the spike is starting to fade :(. Susan

    Phal. venosa

Another one of my favorites ;). I even think the "charcoal briquette" fragrance is interesting. Susan

    Eurychone rothschildiana

Not my usual type of orchid, but this one has been love at first sight. It has beautiful ruffly Phal-type foliage and the flowers have a wonderful cinnamon fragrance. Seems to be very easy to bloom and grow under Phal conditions so fits right in. Susan

    Haraella retrocallo

This one is a Christmas present from my society and is quite tiny. I thought for sure it was going to be dead when I got back from my 2+ week vacation over the holidays. Instead it started blooming :). Susan

    Phal. Equalacea

This little one was begging to be photographed. She blooms sequentially, so only tends to have 1-2 flowers in good condition at a time. Also wonderfully fragrant with the scent of roses and has been in constant bloom for about a year and a half. Susan
