There are only two species in this genus, and this is a cross between the two of them: maingayi x secunda.

Possibly registration pending, but not registered. The only Thecopus hybrid registered is Thecopus secunda x Grammatophyllum stapeliiflorum (Grammothecopus Radziah Jelita). So yes, a Cymbidium / Grammatophylum / Catasetum / Cycnoches / etc. cousin. A chance to make a completely new type of hybrid, that Cycnoches you posted maybe?

Thecopus x Grammatophylum (Grammothecopus) has been registered once. Cycnoches x Grammatophyllum (Cycnophyllum) has been registered twice. There has to be some chance for Cycnoches x Thecopus (or recip). Should it be Thecnoches or Cycnothecopus?
