Get a plastic open weave basket type pot or a wooden basket. Line it with sphagnum moss. Fill the space in the middle with open media (I use bark and charcoal and perlite), plant in the middle.
Im using it for a few parvis - they seem to like it. You need to water quite often or have high humidity to stop it drying out.
Some of the growers here have magnificent results.
 
Also, if you are talking about Rick's baskets, I remember that one of the key feature is that majority (I believe 50% or more in volume?) of the media inside is marble (lime stone), so he can water every day.
