My Sophronitis coccinea flowered during the hottest month of the year 104 F.

Wow! That is a beauty, so round!
Aren't they normally more red colored?
But then, red color is expressed better in cooler growing conditions too, if I recall correctly.
 
They tend to be more of an orange red color than crimson red. I think that many photos that you see are not color correct. Cool conditions can affect color though. I've also read something about UV light that affects the intensity.
Ramon, how big is it? Often they are on the small side when the petals overlap like this.
Also as a matter of opinion, some judges don't like to see overlap petals like this. It is considered assymetrical.
