Short vs tall pots for Phrags

Most phrags I grow have besseae in the background. Because many of those have an annoying habit of growing upward, I like taller pots to accommodate that better.
funny thing is for me, i've started grabbing the rhizome with a wire and pulling that back into the pot (doesn't work for everything... but the longer the rhizome the easier) and using a tray or pot scheme that supports it... in plastic pots. i end up using galvanized wire to poke through the bottom.
