Sarcochilus ceciliae

From Australia, it is a compact and slow-growing plant. I've had this plant for quite some time, and it has yet to produce more than one inflorescence at a time.

Grown outdoors year-round in San Jose, Ca.

>Does it ever get near freezing in the winter?
That's just about the minimum it has been exposed to. Typical lows here range from the high 30's to low 40's.

>Is ceciliae always this color, or are there white ones, also?
Excepting albinos (if they even exist) they should be similarly colored.

Thanks for the comments.

Sarc ceciliae an be almost white thru various shades of pink to this color.
The shape varies quite a bit in the wild collected varieties but the line bred clones seem to gain a more filled in shape. This one is very nice in color and of a standard shape. The the size of the flower is what a lot of new growers to this species is a surprize, they are not huge. These plants like good light to grow & flower properly also and maybe the single spike factor is that it maybe too dark in its growing area. They are not usually a slow grower.

It's beautiful, with such a deep color. I bought one this spring but my color was not as deep and intense as yours. Does it bloom more than once a year?
