This is a first-blooming for this plant, which I won at the New Hampshire Orchid Societies' special auction last month! It had a few buds then, which blasted and fell off and a few of the other newer buds also fell off. The flowers are smaller than I thought they would be; they're the same size as phal maculata, or a small equestris/lindenii. I was told that some are fragrant and other not, and unfortunately I can't smell anything from these flowers. This is my first time owning and flowering this species

the flowers don't have amazing form, and I don't think I remember having seen any pics of any that were outstanding

whole plant. it's in a 4" net pot which I alternately water from the top,
or let soak in weak klite

I'm thinking of selfing these flowers; if anyone has some pollen we could trade,
or if someone wanted to hybridize I could send some pollen

My modesta is blooming now, but it's a much older, larger plant than
your plant. The blooms will get much better with time and growth. Mine
smells a bit like grapes and has about 11 blooms open right now and more
on the way. I think modesta likes mounting on cork with a bit of sphag.
for padding and very high humidity.
