Well if the petals never do perk up and this is normal for the clone, it could make for some interesting sandie hybrids.

Sorry I didn't get a photo but the petals did perk up and I crossed it with sanderianum. The Sandy had 29 inch petals so it should be a very interesting cross.
 
The best sandie hybrids have wide shoulders, long petals and dark pouch, high flower count, grows good, blooms regularly, with bigger than average flowers. if the parents don't have those traits, you shouldn't breed with them. Thats why I don't breed, unless I have a tip top, the very best best, I don't breed
 
I totally agree I most likely don't have the best parents but, I love flasking it a huge hobby of mine and I'm fortunate to have a lab to use for doing it. My crosses are more for my own pratice.
