This is a first-bloom seedling Paph. sanderianum x kolopakingii, registered as Paph. Kolosand in 1998. The petals are 13 inches long and seem to want to keep growing longer. My wife, Lydia, says the appearance is almost "snake-like". Since the sanderianum parent produces 5 or so flowers and the kolopakingii produces 14 or so flowers, I'm hoping for many more per stem as this plant matures.

Nice! I like your Avatar too! I thought at first you didn't have one, but wait a couple seconds, and there it is!

Hi All. I took this Paph. Kolosand to the Alabama Orchid Society show in Birmingham, this past weekend, and it won the Cypripedium Alliance trophy.
