There is a lot to like about the genus Maxillaria. There is wide variety of interesting shapes and growth habit And one does not have to be concerned about all the “bigger, flatter” issues.

Great to have you onboard with your experience. Your plant on SITF swayed me to this conclusion. Thank you!

May I inquire… Where or who was the origin of your plant? Do you have your plant and flower pics to share in this post (that’s different from the AOS photos)?

Your plant looks very much like my M. dichaeoides except mine had pinkish-white flowers with pink spots...but the color is not a factor for ID in general. It will get nice and big over time...lots of flowers.
