It was my understanding that Main Street was suppose to be a vendor at the Deep Cut show but I was just told that they just closed down. Does anyone have any further information on this? Went to their website but nothing there, nor are there but 2 plants listed. Seems a little unbelievable to me unless they had a fire or freeze, as it usual takes a company some time to wind down and sell off the stock. Possible someone came in and bought all of the stock? Any information is welcome.

Since you do not have access to their orchids in person, why couldn’t they close down quickly? Not all businesses go through a long drawn out process in order to close.
Maybe their lease ran out? Maybe they ran out of money? If the website is essentially without information, that really says a lot. I know if I had a business and I was forced to close, I would do it as quickly as possible. The longer it lingers, I longer I cry!

They could have been arranging to sell their stock behind the scenes for quite some time. They may have left in order to avoid paying bills for February. They may have made a deal to sell every thing as a package deal. That would be much less painful then piece by piece.

Their interior business (blooming orchids at businesses) and orchid greenhouses are/were on their property. Mike announced on his fbook page Jan 4th that they were retiring. But no responses about details unfortunately

I talked to Mike when I found out The factual part is. He sold off his plants but not the business. And just closed down for personal reasons. Love Mike. He’s been a great mentor and was a great grower with a great eye for buying great plants. We’ll very much miss him.

One thing I need to point out about his orchid culture, how well many of his orchids grew: there was always very vigorous air movement throughout the whole greenhouse area, and looking around a few times, just about everything looked very healthy
He was/is a firm believer in watering well and getting the greenhouse dry. The air movement was a dimension of that system.

hi Eric, these are the leaves of the 2 paph Myanmaricum plants I got from Tropical Exotique at Rutger, check to see if your plant has the same leaves, I think you probably got the 3rd plant (which was Myanmaricum 1.jpgMyanmaricum 2.jpgslightly bigger and had the remnant of an old flower spike. He only brought 3 to the show.

Thanks. I will post my leaves for comparison, later.
