I bought this last year at Redlands as Lophiaris lanceanum; it did well last year adapting to its mount and putting out a strong new growth. I was overjoyed when I saw it was putting out a spike, anxiously awaiting those beautiful 2.5" flowers with the hot lavender lips.
Not to be. It is however a very robust plant and the small (.75 inch) flowers are interesting and very photogenic. It has taken well to the GH and now has three new growths coming.
Pity it didn't bloom BEFORE Redlands or I could have picked up one here as there were several available.
Oh, well, another one for the sale list!
