That's a very good cross by Jim. They all have that beautiful deep red colour and these two have a very nice shape, too. I enjoy them every time they are shown.

As far as I know P. charlesworthii is used in the pedigree of this hybrid more than 100 years ago. The intense colour is from the Maudiae parent.

Thats my supposition as well. I wonder if Jim knows the actual varieties used to make the cross?

Oh, wow~ that explains the leaves, but had no idea adding Maudiae to a complex can still yield such round complex flower shape.
I've seen some bad stuff. lol
