I have a Hanne Popow 'Pretty in Pink' that's an amazing
climber and I'm going to try air layering on new growth
emerging on the side of the climbing stem. I've done this
successfully on other orchids, but not a Phrag. Anyone
ever try this on a Phrag.? My hope is that the new growth
will eventually grow new roots and can be detached and
potted up. Opinions please?

*I didn't quite know where to put this. If it needs to be moved,
please do so.

Air layering

I find phrags root very easily into moss provided it is kept damp.
Surround the moss with a bit of plastic and tie it up.
You should have no problems.
The only thing is deciding when you have enough new roots to support the new plant,
David

Unfortunately, this is one of the few ways to allow stolonous growths to survive. I have some Phrags that I moved into tall, thin pots but the lower growths suffer.

Thanks for the reassurance Monocot and Eric. Yeah, Eric,
I've had the same experience. Kind of aggravating, ain't
it??? Usually I wait until I have several 2" roots showing
through the moss.
