Encyclias!

Hey folks! Just thought I'd share some recent blooms. I'm not so loyal to slippers only and I do love Encyclias....reliable bloomers and big, (often) fragrant displays of flowers! Here are two:

Encyclia alata var. aurea - a sweet little one I just picked up:

Encyclia incumbens (aromatica):

Okay, I do also have a slipper - Paph. Berenice, first bloom. A few other blooms were deformed but most were okay.

Thanks, all! Yes, both are fragrant but quite different - the incumbens has a heady honeysuckle fragrance while the alata had a much more spicy, lemony floral smell. Both were divine!

Nice Berenice! Most Encyclias have pretty drab colours, IMHO, so I don't grow them much.. I only have cordigera/atropurpurea.. Prismatocarpa is quite pretty too..
