I was a little reluctant to post this after recent discussions as to whether fischerii is really a species, and if it is, are clones in use actually fischerii. That said, this flower is the first for me to bloom from Acker flask CA432. It is Waunakee Sunset "Cherry" x fischerii. The plant has a leaf span of about 10 inches and the flower is a very hairy 2.5 inches across.

I didn't hear anything questioning fischeri? manzurii yes, but I think the staminode marking and the petal (sepal) color will keep it separate. Yay besseae hybrids!

Very pretty! So this is ((besseae x fischeri) x besseae) x fischeri)? I'd have guessed this was Barbara LeAnn without knowing the cross, no surprise with the heritage. :)

I think it has the form of besseae and the color from fischerii
