This is the second blooming for this plant which is the result of a breeding between a plant I had from Andy's and Gilda's wardii 'Charles'. Both of the parents are now gone:( but there progeny live on.

This flower is just shy of 11 cm across

I'm sending Slipperking pollen from this plant to put into his vini wardii.

As mentioned..NICE offspring you & Gilda produced. Hopefully we will be able to carry on the tradition!:clap:

Very nice flat flower..! :D

You get used to seeing them in real life, and then you see them in a photo.

The petals reflex back a bit on this flower, which from this frontal perspective makes the petals seem shorter and wider than in real life.

But I think it is one of the more wide open wardii blooms I've seen.

:drool::drool::drool: EXCELLENT!!! :clap::clap::clap:

They do? any chance for a side shot?

Beautiful flowers! Can't seem to get my wardii to bloom...just keeps getting blasted when the buds show up for the third time in a row.

That's weird. This one is pretty easy for me. What species is doing good next to it. If you are doing a lot of multis you might be too bright and dry.

Are you under lights now?

My Paph wardii is next to my Paph delenatii vinicolor seedlings. They are under T5HO but they do get light from my 400W HID lights as well. My delenatii vinicolor seedlings are growing real fast and looks great. I haven't repotted the wardii in one years and it is growing in coconut husk, sphagnum moss, perlite and charcoal. It puts out many new growths but when I see the new buds it just dries up. Humidity is around 70%.

Food for thoughts: Maybe the salt from Coconut husk is affecting it!

I've grown and flowered them in CHC based mixes, but these plants are presently in a bark mix. Also the quality of CHC varies a lot from source to source. May be too many variables to blame potting mix or water quality. Humidity is good.

They could probably appreciate lower light levels, and maybe a shorter day length if you don't modify it during the year. Obviously the plants in my GH are in dark or very dim from 4-5pm till 8 or so AM right now. Thats only 8 hours of decent light. And since they are in the back NW corner under a lot of hanging plants it's pretty dim most of the day during the winter for mine.

What is your low end temperature. If you are indoors maybe they are not cool enough during the bloom time. I'm getting down to around 60 at night, and with a cloudy day outside I doubt if I get above 70 right now. I used to run night temps into the mid 50's but have raised up a little for my Bulbos and Phals. Rick in TX is running in the high 50's at night.

Unless you are doing things indoors to make a dark cool period, they may be blasting from lack of seasonal cues.
