Phragmipedium besseae ('Big Bob' x 'Colossal')

This is my best Phrag besseae in my collection so far. My second bloom on the spike, because the first bloom was mutant. I had a friend hold it for me when Sam Tsui brought it to our orchid society and I was on vacation this summer. Too bad the dorsal is hooded. I think it could bloom better, the air is really dry in the house. Anyway, I'm pleased to have a OZ bred besseae!

This bloom is not big, only 6.7cm. The first mutant bloom was slightly bigger lol.

Awesome colour! The size and form will improve when it puts on multiple growths and has more roots. Also, growing it cool as the stem develops helps to intensify the red colour.
