A friend in Germany has just registered a couple Mambo hybrids I made about ten years ago. I sold protocorms from a bunch of primary and near primaries to Schwerter in Germany and they ended up in collections over there.

Sylvi's Gem is (Mambo x Penang Girl)

Penang Girl is (venosa x violacea)

California Dream is (Mambo x Marie's Delight)

Marie's Delight is (venosa x mariae)

I knew both these crosses would give good color, but the conformation on Sylvi's Gem was sort of a surprise on a plant with mannii as a grandparent.

Yes, the Mambo parent was sweetly fragrant (like amboinensis), and the progeny often end up with similar fragrance. The Sylvi's Gem more fragrant than the California Dream. Yes, both my crosses; made the Mambo too, back in 1986.

Wow~ I like that California Dream in the first posting.
Are these fragrant phals??
Did you make the cross?

Thanks. I'll try not to let it go to my head, LOL. Most people don't care much about small open flowers regardless of their color.

The color on these is outstanding. I don't think the smallness of the flower makes it less desirable, and floriferousnee seems to matter a lot these days with Phals.
