There can be slight variations in flowers even in primary crosses. I have also had differences in color intensity from one gloom to the next on the same plant.
Here are a couple of pictures from my files. I do have a couple in bloom and will try to get picture of them later when it is brighter outside.





 
Here are pictures of the same plant, Paph Mary Zdilla, on different bloomings. While the lighting, etc. may not be exactly the same, the flowers were definitely different, colorwise. The first was lighter in color



 
Very interesting comparisons. As Dorchid said, I think there is some improvement. WZ blooms much easier than
helenae and is not quite so fussy about being in perfect
conditions. Mine have been moved around quite a bit to
accommodate Phrags. and the helenae seem to be unhappy about the moves. WZ goes on about the business of growing and blooming without getting cranky.
Yes, I know that's anthropomorphizing, but it seems that
way to me.
