Paph. Orion's Belt 'Holy Cow'

'Holy Cow' was the first thing I said when I saw the size of this baby. Orion's Belt is Muriel Constance x emersonii. I love emersonii hybrids and this cross has surprised me with each flower (from yellow to pink pouches).

That thing is pretty wild. I'm fascinated by the emersonii influence in recent hybrids. Do you feel like it makes them slower growers?

Yes, emersonii does tend to slow down the hybrids, but not by much. I'd say crossed with other parvis or brachys sets back the blooming season 1 year... I think these have been out of flask for 3 years now. We can get many parvis and brachys to bloom 2 years out of flask.

This flower has a 6" natural spread. Quite similar to what some of the hangianum hybrids have been producing!
