First time flowering, purchased in 2009 from Forestview. I was hoping for more yellow from the armeniacum parent, and the petals aren't a great shape, but I do love the white pouch with purple spotting inside.

The leaves are correct for FD. No way it's FG.

By the way, how big was this back in 2009??
I thought mine was taking a long time.

One is in low spike. I'm dying to see some flowers on mine. lol

Lovely colors and I wonder just what insects pollinate this
flower and how the pollinator makes the trip to the site
of the pollen. Orchid pollination strategy always fascinates
me.

This paper discusses slipper orchid pollinators. You will find on page 68 the answer to your question. Basically most Paphs are pollinated by hover flies which aren't attracted to colour. The Parvisepalum group are pollinated by bumblebees which are greatly attracted to colour, especially yellow and purple. This explains why some of the Parvisepalum species are much more colourful than other Paphs.
