Dear all,
This is Paph. Darling 'Aiko' from Vacherot & Lecoufle--difficult to bloom since it is made with the original Vacherot & Lecoufle delenatii (the one specimen extant in the whole world until rediscovery).
This plant needs a rest in winter otherwise it just won't bloom. The problem is to keep it dry and cold without killing it. The same applies to Mme Martinet (I recently killed mine--a division of the awarded Mme Martinet 'La Tuilerie" which had 7 growths and just wouldn't produce a bud).
Some Taiwanese growers are remaking these beautiful hybrids with the easier rediscovered clones. I only wish they used delenatii dunkel which would produce bigger, even pinkier blooms.
The flower opened over the week end.
Happy growing
