If you look at older photos of the cross they have a lot of lines and patterns from the fairre parent. When the album versions came out a lot look like this. I think it needs to be crossed back on something (fairre or roth) to get a pattern back.

Yes -- I think Bill Porter's Black Diamond has line patterns. Next time it blooms, I'll try to remember to take a picture.
