welcome to my torture chamber ... this is where i torture (dehydrate) my seasonal and deciduous orchids... currently being subjected to this inhumane treatment are my seasonal dendrobiums and eulophia andamanensis... the chamber is basically just an unused aquarium turned on its side so the plants are sheltered from rain...

the buds forming on dend anosmum 'purple'.. hope it can bloom in time for a local orchid show in 2 weeks time...

btw, can anyone please tell me when do i have to dry out these seasonal dends and when do i start to commence watering..? i'm not sure whether to start drying them as soon as the growth is complete, after a few leaves are shed naturally by the plant or after all leaves are shed..? do i resume watering as soon as the new growth shows, after buds have formed or after flowering? thanks...

The Baker has a dendrobium data book.
May be you can mimic the natural habitat of your dendrobiums
