Lycaste Island of Vulcorn x macrophylla

Currently in bloom. Slight fragrance.
This is a cross that I made a few years ago. It took the red color from Island of Vulcorn and the form from the macrophylla. This is the first of the seedlings to bloom.

Too bad it does not have the stronger fragrance most macrophylla have, I love the fruity perfume. Also interesting, the ancestry does not have a lot of Lyc skinnerii in it. With L. macrophylla as one parent and mostly lasioglossa as the other, with one small dose of L. cruenta and 2 small doses of L. skinneri through the Wyld Court grandparent. It is nice to see breeding that is going for an improved version of macrophylla, rather than being focused on all L. skinnerii.
