There have been a number of crossings this way. One or two awarded I believe. The 99.999999 % rubbish that results from this sort of crossing makes them an unviable cross to make. Regardless the attempt to create new and interesting plants, the time & cost in money and space to flower that unique or showable flower is not worth the effort.
Just my thoughts.

There were some interesting crosses between Winston Churchill and haynaldianum...Toll Booth, I think? Eric
