Yes and besides that also how steep and rocky the conditions to. Drainage should be very high.

Since moving mine to baskets there's roots all over.

Another Paph pic in the series looks like a hookerae/volonteanum. More moss and leaf litter in that pic. More moisture.
 
I always amazed seeing an in situ photo....few months ago I saw an in situ druyrii flowering surrounded with burned out grass(!!!) exposed with full sunlight. If I could see well this plant is also exposed with full sunlight.
