My Dendro mochatum has an interesting history: I got it from a friend who used to have a nursery (not an orchid nurs.). He had received the plant from somebody who had been to South America (maybe Ecuador) years ago. So, when the plant first flowered, he called me, and as we both had never seen a mochatum before, we began to search literature and the web for south american species. It took some time before we considered also asian species; then , of course, we found out rather quickly. When he stopped his nursery, he handed me over the plant; it has become a ensemble of very long canes and flowers from old leafless growths, blooms last only one week!! Jean
