Hello everyone, one of my favourite orchid is blooming now, special small flower in big flower, very very fragrant.

Cymbidium ensifolium cv Fushan Qidie=富山奇蝶,means special butterfly in Fu mountain, special butterfly is Chinese orchid fan discribe flower petal become lip petal---more coloful than species. Fushan Qidie is belong to special butterfly, and really double flower

I do not know oversea orchid fan if enjoy these special type, just an interesting cultivar of Cymbidium.

Chinese terrestrial Cymbidium growing history over 2000years, Confucius says Cymbidium grow in valley, but it will always fragrant, no matter people notice it----means people become nice people, no matter they can get appreciation. so Chinese like fragrant Cymbidium very much, there are thousands of terrestrial Cymbidium cultivar in China, include Cym.goeringii, faberi, ensifolium, lianpan and so on.

Thanks for posting the pictures! I have been waiting patiently for mine to bloom.. but no luck this year. Maybe not warm enough? :sob:

I think temperature is ok though in Canada. my garder is cooler than situ but I notified that the bloom term earlier...do not know the reason.

Anyway, it is a very easy growing orchid, I think you must be successful.

I asked my firend who run an Cym. ensifolium nursery in situ(Fujian province in China). he tell me more light will help ensifolium produce flower, this species need more light than faberi and goeringii.

:clap:Fascinating! Interesting! Thanks for the pics! Does this trait get passed on to it's offspring?

I do not know if it with genetic... because orchid seed propagation is depend on lab, here is not very development so seldom person to do orchid hybrid.all cultivars are from nature selection.
