2016-02-03 Winter in North Texas

It's chilly today 40-50F, however sun is out and greenhouse is comfortable in the upper 70sF

A few things are flowering.

Phal Yaphon Gelacea 'Peter #3' - I have 3 flowers and a bud. I was going to save this for judging that is 10 days from now. However I dropped the plant and broke off a flower while taking this picture. So I'm breeding with this now. Easy decision.

Phal K S Super Zebra - Waxy and great contrast.

:rollhappy: We had 75 F this past weekend, tonight it's going to be 30 F.

Phal Yaphon Gelacea is not fragrant - too much Phal micholitzii influence. I did a selfing today so hopefully getting a lot of seeds.

Yellow color is difficult to photograph on my iphone. Flower is more yellow in person, however I like the markings that is yellow - recessive color compared to the reddish brown color from Phal amboinensis.

I have googled photos of this hybrid and yours has really unique colors. I also cannot find a source. I hope one day you are able to propagate this and also the Phylo's Sweet Orange so I can obtain these great Phals.

Love that Super Zebra! I'd give any of those plants a home anytime.
Greenhouses are wonderful places to be anytime, but especially in the
winter...bathing in humidity, smelling the earthy smell, watching
leaves gently undulating. Pure heaven! I looooove my greenhouse.
