Here is a recent painting I did based on another growers impressive three-flowered besseae. I tried to give an overview of the species, showing its various forms and a vignette of an imagined patch of suitable wild habitat.
Hope you like.

Ps. It is still for sale, please pm if you are...
Bought as P.Haur Ji Lucky (gigantifolium x adductum) from Asendorfer in Germany, but not sure the label is correct - certainly not like other examples of this hybrid online. Looks to me like there has to be some roth in the mix. What do people think?
Finally had the chance this year to paint some of my slippers. Mostly studies in my sketchbook so far, but also a more finished oil painting of Paph. Stone Praetorian (stonei x glanduliferum) and a mixed media piece of Paph. Duke of Burgundy (JBurkhardt x Lady Isobel). It makes a nice change...
I was eagerly awaiting this one, as I love stonei and gigantifolium. The buds were so dark I wasn't convinced it was labelled right, but very happy with it for a first flowering. A variety of shots in different light/backgrounds. As you can see, the colours look very different, depending on the...
Another single bloom first flowering. I'm biased when it comes to gig hybrids, but I love the look of this one. Fingers crossed for 3 or 4 next time....

Recent first flowering. Only the one bloom, but a nice sized one, so potential for the future. Purchased from Orchids Limited a couple of years ago at the Brit Paph Society meeting.

Chuffed to win Best Paph Species at the British Paph Society (BPS) annual meeting with this first flowering parishii.
Bought as a single growth seedling 3years ago from Sam Tsui.
Dorsals have twisted more than I would have hoped but pleased with 6 flowers.

Been meaning to get round to posting some pics for a while. This year all my plants seem to have left their flowering until very late. All are first flowering plants
Michael Koopowitz (unknown Taiwan breeding)
Wossner Black Wings (from Orchid Inn)
Gloria Naugle (EYOF)
First flowering. Shame its only one bloom this time, but look forward to seeing it with more in future.
The white colour and yellow stripes took over two weeks to develop, but worth the wait.
Appropriate for Christmas - Happy holiday everyone!

Only open a few days, so not sure if the petals will lengthen more from the sandy and if it will turn whiter. Pleasantly surprised considering the wildly different parents though.

Labelled as Yellow Tiger, which should be platyphyllum x glanduliferum/praestans. But looking at the red pouch, dorsal stripes and compact plant I think this more likely was made using stonei instead of platy, which makes it Paph.Stone Praetorian. What do others think?
First two flowers are...
Second flowering for me on this plant. Great to get the two spikes, but only three per this time (5 last time). The growths seemed in a hurry to bloom, being much smaller than the last one. Anyone know if this is just the way of it sometimes, or am I perhaps underfeeding the developing growths...
Recent purchase from In Charm. Cross is Lady Isabel x S.Gratrix.
Flowers are just fading, but had to have it on the strength of the top flower. 13cm spread.

Just a few pics of my newest acquisition, from the British Paphiopedilum Society Annual meeting a few weeks ago. Many thanks to Elite Orchids for it. An InCharm cross originally.
I absolutely love the colour, which as you can see can looks very different in different light conditions. A big...
The petals are still lengthening, but thought I might not get the chance to take some more pics over Christmas.
Bought as Phrag.Grande, but as I understand it this is now classed as Leslie Garay (longifolium x caudatum). Either way, has the pink and green combo I was hoping for!

Been waiting for this one to finish its petal lengthening before taking any pics, but as I noticed the first flower is starting to brown I guess its done.
Pleased with the flower count and general form, but wish those petals were longer and the petals darker (the white-background photo is more...
My first multi flowering - just the one flower, but really pleased with the outcome.
Dimension for those interested - NS and petal length 15cm, Dorsal 6cm by 4cm wide, whole plant has a 70cm leafspan.
BTW - Does anyone know if this cross has a registered name? I can't find it listed with RHS or...
Took a trip out today to my local orchid society show - Somerset, Wiltshire & Dorset group. A small show, but some nice plants on show and more paphs and phrags than I expected.
Apologies if some of the photos arent better - just on the ipad.

I recently bought a yp of what I thought (and still hope) is a Paph.HSEagle. Good news is its growing well, but I noticed today it is labelled as roth x gig, whereas the bluenanta database lists HSE as gig x roth. Further confusion, as looking at vendors sites and threads here I see both...
