    Multifloral Spike Orientation Under Lights

Wossner Black Wings is looking to take flight. Question is, how does one keep the spike from burning under the lights while simultaneously having the flowers face one direction, the spike to stand up straight, and the whole thing to not blast? Unfortunately I can't move these lights any further...

Importing flasks to the US from Taiwan?

Hi! I'm considering importing from Hung Sheng Orchids from Taiwan since they're one of the few vendors that seem to have species that I'm interested in and one I think I can potentially reliably trust. What's the process for importing paph flasks besides the phyto certificate and a CITES form?

    P. helenae

Can't take credit for the bloom, this is part of Quintal Farm's smaller breeding line. I prefer this over the larger helenae for sure because I think plant size is such a hallmark for this species. Also need to invest in better lighting equipment.

    Wanted P. Chiu Hua Dancer

Looking for this cross again since USPS either messed up with the delivery or someone stole the package within 1 hour of supposed "delivery". It doesn't seem hopeful that they are going to find the original package either.

    Sanderianum?

I recently received a flask of sanderianum from an international grower who sent me images of the parents used (sib cross). I'm not sure if the first one is sanderianum seeing how short the petal length is. Can anyone else confirm?

For Sale Paph Krull's Pride (FCC Parent)

This came off naturally from the mother plant when I was repotting it so here's an extra if anyone wants it. Exact flower shown in the picture, needs a little tlc but potential award quality due to the stance of the petals. $65 + $15 shipping via USPS or pickup in the Los Angeles area in...

Help Regarding Sourcing Orchids for Workshop/Sales

Hello everyone, This is a bit off topic from the usual slipper discussion found here but I'm part of the Orchid Society of Southern California and have been looking to expand the club by attracting younger people like me through plant workshops. I somehow managed to coincidentally meet a...

Paph Lynleigh Koopowitz + A surprise?

This one lasts forever and found out that blooming is triggered by cold winter temps down to the 50s or 40s F. I had two immature growths and both flowered unexpectedly after the mature growth. Also, the plant seems to have kept a seed pod from the bloom that faded at the beginning of July. I...

Drying Paphs and other Orchid Flower Displays

Had this idea of displaying my dried blooms almost like insect specimen display cases. I've been attempting to improve the positions of the flowers during drying (you can kind of tell by the quality of the P. sanderianum vs the P. Regine Plows flowers). I have so many blooms collected over the...

    Rhynchobrassoleya Pinnochio 'Sakura Mojito' AM/AOS

My first ever AOS judging experience and first award! Incorrectly put in as Dragon's Talon by the RHS (C. alaorii orlata x Rcv. Jimminey Cricket). Bred by Peter Lin who said this was the best one out of his batch so far! It smells intensely of B. nodosa in the morning then fades to an "English...

    P. Regine Plows (Shin Yi Pride x Wossner Black Wings)

Hybrid registered in 2022 by Fred, who I got this one from today. Not exactly the healthiest plant but I absolutely love the flowers. Dorsal is 4.5 cm and flowers are the size of my hand!

    Phyton 27 on Seedlings

I got a bunch of tiny seedlings coming in soon and I don't have physan on hand, I was wondering if phyton 27 could be used on 1" Cattleya seedlings instead at a diluted strength.

Dehydrated near rootless P sanderianum seedling

I've been dealing with this near rootless P. sanderianum seedling I received from Sam and I forgot to water it one day beforehand. The leaves became somewhat wrinkly, the bottom leaves have become droopy, and it has not grown a single root in the three months that I've had it. I've cut watering...

    P. sanderianum rot issue

Hi everyone, I'm encountering some rot on the basal leaves of a new growth on a recently acquired P. sanderianum that recently popped up somewhat simultaneously with our rains outside in Los Angeles. I already removed one small leaf at the base that was mostly rotted, removed clear watery...

    Images of Paph Larry Cox?

Does anyone have any further images of this hybrid? I'm debating on purchasing either this or a WBW from Sam before he runs out of them. I know one member has bloomed one of Sam's plants but I'm not sure if anyone else has.

    Hello from Los Angeles!

Hi everyone! Long-time orchid grower here but recently delving into Paphs, mostly multiflorals such as sanderianum, adductum var anitum, and others. Speaking of sanderianum, here's one generously sold to me by Fred Clarke of SVO. This is one of Sam's crosses done 20+ years ago, 'Red Spider' x...
