First one gets my vote.. Love the arching spike..
BTW, Dot, do you digitally darken your background? just wondering cos i can see blue background instead of black between some flowers..
Sharp eyes, paphioboy! I photograph against black velvet, but it doesn't always photograph black so yes, I tend to darken the background digitally. I apparently missed some spots one these.

Aesthetically: the first.
Functionally: the 2nd which gives a nice close up of the flower structure for comparison to other species but also offers some flowers in profile.

Imo, both excellent are complementary, the 1st one showing the interesting arching inflorescence, and the 2nd one giving a lot of details of the different blooms!!!! Jean
