What is this on my Tall Tails?

I have a new growth from an old fan growing out of my phrag. Tall Tails. At first I thought that it was a new growth but it hasn't developed any leaves so now I am wondering what it is. It looks like a root but I didn't think Phrags grew roots -aerial roots anyway. Does anybody have any ideas?

its a root coming out that will grow dowm into the medium

That's a root tip. It is common for roots to develop "behind" an older leaf and travel down to the mix hidden from view.

Thanks guys. I was wondering if it would develop into a fan but then it took along time to do not much so I began to wonder what it could be. It is hairy so I should have realised earlier myself. Oh well, at least it's something.
