Anyone know of any Paph orchid nurseries around Phuket that sell flasks?

I am going in March and am interested to know if there's anything close by anyway.

Thanks

Darren Howard

Hi Darren

hi Darren

I see you are coming to Thailand in March? I am not sure of what nurseries are around in Phuket, but I will ask for you.

Are you coming up to Bangkok at all? I think you will find quite a few nurseries selling flasks up here. I can also recommend a few people who you can pre-order from.

Getting an internal flight up to Bangkok is very cheap www.airasia.com and http://www.nokair.com about $40 one way, and if specials are on, cheaper.

hi darren,

that phuketorchid nursery on the Web is a pure 100+ % tourist trap
absolutely waste of time . if you're serious about buying some good flasks
take the morning flight on wednesday to bangkok and go to chatuchak market
you'll have the time of your life plenty of great flasks and enough things to look at
to make it worth while for you and fly back on the evening flight
i'll pm you with a booking sample
you could also fly to chiangmai i could get you some good line bred godefroyae
or concolor's or i can send them to Phuket for you
let me know how we can be of help to you
kindest regards
cliokchi:)

Hi Hans

I had no idea of this nursery being like that. I agree, a flight to Bangkok is better

Thanks so much, I am really interested in getting a flask or two. The concolor sounds ideal for my conditions.

How would we arrange this? Hang on I will PM you.

Not sure if I can make a flight to Bangkok, we are only there for 7 nights and 6 full days in Patong.

hi tyrone,

Thailand has very strictly adhered Cites law in place !
but if your plants that you want to export are up to cites regulations
and they pass the Cites and phyto inspection !
if your country does not require Advance Cites import permits ,
like all EEC countries and Japan need
i can arrange for plant cites between 48 to max 72 hrs for orchid species
hybrids or flask 24 to max 48 hrs it will involve driving by my staff
from the farm to the PQ and cites inspection office 120 miles round
trip about 1 day work
but as we all know labor is cheap in Thailand
any more questions pm me ok ?
hope this useful for you
cliokchi:)

How does Phyto and CITES work in Thailand? My wife if eager to visit Thailand...

Hi Eric,
i'm just describing the legal ! export formalities .
for the USA you need an General nursery permit and an Import permit
that allows you to Import plants under the CITES laws.
kindest regards
cliokchi:)

"Permits!?!? We don' need no stinkin' permits!!" :p

hi tyrone,

What is the cost for a Phyto? In South Africa I only need an import permit from our Dept. of Agriculture and then the Phyto for plants coming in as flask. (For plants I would also need CITES which is why I like flasks: less paper work! and I would need to know what I'm going to purchase on impulse in advance  )

At the market you talked about, is it possible to have the Phyto arranged via one of the vendors there?
